Please read this job description very carefully. You must meet all the requirements and expectations of the job in or to be considered for this position.

Pamal Broadcasting in Fishkill, NY, is a cluster of 6 radio stations. We are welcoming applicants for the full time position of Assistant Production and Creative Services Director and backup Continuity Director.

As the Assistant Production Director, you will work closely with the Production Director and our sales reps to manage incoming commercial content for our clients. About 75% of what we run comes from outside - we craft the remainder in-house. This is a secondary management and administrative position for someone who has voice talent, talent coaching and audio engineering / mastering experience in a broadcast environment. Minimum criteria for this part of the job includes:

  • A comprehensive understanding of audio file formats and digital audio recording
  • Know proper use of broadcast quality microphones
  • A full and comprehensive understanding of non-destructive multi-track audio session production and mixing using Adobe Audition 3.0
  • A full understanding of the NexGen Broadcast Automation System (or similar broadcast automation system)
  • A strong and versatile vocal presentation with the ability to deliver client messages in a variety / range of styles because you will be voicing a client commercials
  • Understanding of 'station imaging' and ability to create image / branding elements compatible with our stations
  • Ability to work with clients during recording sessions and other outside performers and to coach them during recording sessions to get the best performance possible from them
  • This person will manage and create some long-form programming and 'image liners' for some of our stations under the direction of other staff members
  • Manage installation of syndicated long-form programming

The Production Team often serves as a Creative Services resource for the sales reps and our clients to develop advertising campaigns, on air image and design for client commercials. Candidate must possess script writing and spot design abilities.

This position also involves being the primary backup to our Continuity Director. You must be able to:

  • work with a heavy and frequently changing project load
  • muliti-task and maintain several active projects at the same time while toggling between the SDS, Email / Outlook and NexGen systems
  • Management experience including a comprehensive understanding of Continuity and Traffic duties. Extensive clerical and administrative work is associated with this position including assigning spot numbers, assigning spots to contracts, understanding flight instructions from agencies, running reports, managing co-op script copy for proper billing and more. Attention to detail is critical because one tiny mistake could cost us thousands of dollars in revenue.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced deadline oriented environment.
  • assemble information from sales rep emails / Production Work Orders
  • match up with the correct commercials (outside content requires downloading and saving appropriately)
  • create the "spot" in the SDS Traffic System and correctly applying the spot(s) to the client contract for the requested flight dates and times.
  • Work in conjunction with the Traffic Director.
  • Work closely and maintain open communication with sales reps and other affiliates is necessary.

In summary, the right candidate will be able to fully run and manage the department and workload when the Production Director is unavailable.
