Pamal Broadcasting



James J. Morrell, Chairman and CEO, is the sole shareholder of Pamal Broadcasting. Mr. Morrell has been in the broadcast business since acquiring WFLY in 1987. Since that time, he has built his broadcasting business to become one of the top operators in each of its markets.

John VanDenburgh, Secretary-Treasurer, has been with Pamal Broadcasting since 1993. Mr. VanDenburgh is responsible for preparing yearly budgets, strategic planning, analyzing potential acquisitions and maintaining banking relationships. Mr. VanDenburgh is also responsible for the supervising the accounting and reporting function of Pamal. Mr. VanDenburgh has a degree in Accounting from Siena College and a Masters in Taxation from SUNY at Albany.

Paul Thurst, Corporate Chief Engineer, began working in broadcasting at KUAM AM/FM/TV while stationed in Guam in 1989. After Mr. Thurst was discharged from the Coast Guard in 1991, he returned to New York. He began working for WFLY/WPTR in August of that year. In 1994, he was hired by Dame Media as Chief Engineer for WGY/WRVE. In 1996, Dame Media promoted Mr. Thurst to Director of Engineering and he was relocated to the corporate headquarters in Harrisburg, PA. While there, Mr. Thurst oversaw the consolidation projects that where necessary after the company's expansion from 11 radio stations to 22 radio stations in under a year. After Dame Media was sold to Clear Channel, he took a job with Pamal Broadcasting in Fishkill, NY.

Mr. Thurst has completed several military electronics and communications courses. He attended the University of Maryland. The Society of Broadcast Engineers certifies him as a Senior Broadcast Engineer, Radio.
